the czech consulate kept its word and i got my schengen visa precisely a week before my departure. i trained myself not to think about it, so even now it seems unreal that on friday i will be relocating to prague (yes, i've been getting a lot of blank stares) for the next five months.
Hey Yelena,
ReplyDeleteI had applied for a schengen visa and it looked similar to yours, With this visa could you travel to other schengen states? like france, Italy etc?
Please let me know
hello,
ReplyDeleteyes, a schengen visa allows you to travel freely among the 25 schengen states.
No! This is NOT a Schengen visa!! READ your visa!!! It says that its only valid for Czech Territory. If it was a Schengen visa, it would have said : Valid for Schengen Area.
ReplyDeleteI have received both Schengen visa and individual long stay visas from Schengen States so I know what I am talking about.
Plus Schengen visa can be max 90 days so there is no way in the world to get a 142 day Schengen visa.
all i said was "yes, a schengen visa allows you to travel freely among the 25 schengen states." prachi had applied for a schengen visa and asked if it is valid. i merely answered the question with an answer from the schengen visa FAQ page.
ReplyDeletei know i called it a schengen visa in the blog post, but who cares? this is my personal travel blog from a year ago.
I'm wondering, suppose if I apply through French Embassy Schengen Visa, it become France Schengen Visa .. right? so I can only fly to Paris France but am i allowed to take a flight from Paris to Stockholm?
ReplyDeletei'm not sure - i think this is a question you should direct to the french embassy or whoever is handling your visa.
ReplyDeletethis is not a schengen visa, it's NATIONAL visa, you americans don't need schengen visas, because you can freely stay there for 90 days. For more then 90 days you need NATIONAL visa from country where you want to stay. In your case you don't need to worry for visa when travelling to france because:
ReplyDelete1. you are american, which grants you free 90 day visit to any schengen stay, thus living the CR for a week in France is fully acceptable + there is no border control so you are free to go anywhere you want
2. even if you weren't US citizen, and were Ukraine's citizen (like me:P), you still wouldnt't need Schengen visa to travel, because ALL NATIONAL VISA'S ("D" type) starting from 5th of April 2010 are allowed to be used for travel between Schengen states.
p.s. and yes, all the European visa's look almost the same (Schengen or national once), the difference is in the word "visa" and letter hidden to space to the left of it. "visa" is written in a language of issuing country and to the left there is a hidden letter code of issuing country.
i am going to czech republic with a work visa, so can i get the permanent residency in CR
