zelený čtvrtek (green thursday)

sometimes wine + strudel happens in the middle of the day.  yesterday there was a party in the fashion studio; people dancing like crazy on the table to 1990s hits.  it was so fun!  and the most interesting part is that this happens in the school.  people hold parties after hours in their studios and nobody minds.  well, the man at the reception desk came upstairs to tell us to keep it down a couple of times, but when his shift was over, he went home and we were free to continue.  imagine that, i wish MICA was so welcoming, but then again the student body at VŠUP is practically nonexistent, and sometimes it seems that the school is empty.

  1. I dunno, at MICA it depends on who you spend time with. A lot of my friends are very warm and spontaneous, down to earth...the opposite of pretentious, I would say. Last weekend we got together in FOX to draw comics all day, and we ended up having a one-song dance party every hour on the hour.

Hope you are enjoying yourself despite feeling perhaps a little out of place,
    Celine

  2. oh, by "welcoming" i meant letting their students do whatever they want. i know you can have a little party at MICA, but you can't come to school after hours, bring a ton of alcohol, blast music through the entire building, and party until 2 in the morning. i'm pretty sure that's not allowed at MICA!

  3. and each studio has couches with low tables (the architects even have a futon). sometimes you come to class and there are empty wine bottles standing around. in the ceramics studio a couple of weeks ago there was a party where the teachers joined in and got more drunk than anyone else, and were falling all over the place. when i was in the lithograph studio one morning, the teacher was cooking sausages for breakfast in the corner...
